Lottie's Diary: After the week long England Netball Summer Camp in July at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield where I was selected as 1 of 13 players for the U17 Excel squad, the new season is now underway.
Kicking it off was an England training weekend over the 11-13th September 2009 at University of Bath. After a 5 hour drive up in Friday traffic via Exeter to pick up my team mate Katie who is 17, we were met by Margie, 1 of our 2 Managers, who showed us to our rooms in the University's Halls of Residence.
As a combined U19 and U17 group of 25 we had 6 challenging sessions concentrating on attacking over the Saturday and Sunday, including match play, and were pushed hard by our 6 coaches.
It was fantastic and after my recent knee problem, thankfully I didn't need the physios who are always standing by. But the ice baths helped! We had video analysis which was very valuable to watch what you do wrong as well as what you do right. I played at both GA and WA.
Food, as always at England is superb with great main meals and a yummy snack box which I visited regularly!
The entire weekend was brilliant and I loved the increased speed of play and being pushed to my limits. I cannot wait for the next.
