SSP Netball Finals
The top primary school netball teams from across the County gathered this week at the Inter School Sport Partnership (SSP) Netball Finals. The teams met at Pool Business and Enterprise College and battled it out for the title of Hi-Five Netball Champions.
Hi-Five Netball is the National Governing Bodies (NGB) version of the game for primary schools. It really develops the young players giving them the opportunity of playing different positions on court every quarter. Girls and boys are able to play the game alongside one another.
The top teams had secured a place at the event after winning their area league or festival. It was great to see both large and small schools in attendance. Teams travelled from Harrow Barrow, Gwinear, Mabe, Indian Queens, Newlyn, Mithian, Biscovey and Camelford.
The event was arranged by Gemma Wilson, Senior Competition Manager and run on the day by Lorna Gribble and an outstanding team of young umpires who are being mentored by the NGB. The girls did an excellent job of umpiring and warming up the players at the start of the event.
Gemma Wilson said “This was a fantastic ending to a season of Hi Five Netball in our county primary schools. The level of play was excellent, and the team from Harrow Barrow who won the event really played together well as a team, a great example of how Hi-Five Netball should be played. I would also like to thank Lorna and Pool Business & Enterprise College, who were fantastic hosts for the afternoon.”
