CORNWALL NETBALL TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Cornwall Netball runs a very successful talent development programme, which over the last 10 years has produced a wealth of talented players who have gone on to represent various English and Welsh National squads.
The County is committed to the England Netball National Excel Guidelines and Coaches as well as players receive education on skills, tactics and all aspects of Sport Science. Parents are not left out, at the beginning of the season all parents of satellite academy players are invited to attend a parents’ workshop to explain the programme their daughter is involved in. The programme is about the individual development of the player and does not replace the County squads of old. With the demise of the County Competition the players are encouraged to join local junior clubs for their competition.
SATELLITE ACADEMIES
The County runs six area Satellite Academies, 2 x U14 and 4 x U13 which involves around 120 players in quality coaching. Players attend fortnightly training for 11 sessions. The players are also involved in two festivals in November and March

There are around 15-20 players at anyone time in the County academy whose ages range from 12-16. Ability and potential, not age governs the selection process for the County Academy.
The County academy aims to stretch the players and concentrates more intensely on training programmes to getting the athletes involved to a high level of fitness. Head Coach is the Regional Talent Development Coach who is assisted by two England Netball UKCC Level 2 Coaches
The County academy train fortnightly on a Monday evening 6 – 8pm at Truro College Lynher Building
REGIONAL TALENT AND PERFORMANCE CENTRE
The Cornwall Netball programme is in line with the Regional and National programme for developing talent
Cornwall is fortunate in having a Regional Talent and Performance Centre at Truro College. Players who are invited to attend the Talent and Performance Centre have the opportunity not only for fortnightly training with local talented coaches. They also work with the Regional Talent Coach who is currently Jo Binns an Ex National Squad player.
The programme they follow is more intense than any of the other academies and these players have an opportunity of coaching sessions at the South and South West High Performance Netball Centre at the University of Bath.
The most elite of these players also have an opportunity to go to Regional Screening and then onto National Screening for the England Excel Talent squads (England U17s and U19s). The Truro Talent and Performance centre currently has two Excel Talent Players. Lottie Richardson (14yrs) is in the U17 Squad and Becky Cantin (17yrs) is in the U19 Squad.
There are 15-20 players in the Truro Talent and Performance Centre. Players are aged 13-18 and are recommended to screening from the County Academy.
