Netball South West U14 Regional Final - Congratulations Penryn, Saints and Debbie

The Netball South West U14s Regional Finals Tournament was held on Sunday 22 April 2012 at the Life Centre, Plymouth. The top eight teams from the region came to compete for the overall U14s title.
The teams from the southwest area were Cornwall Saints, Exeter, Penryn and Plymstock and from the northeast area were Hucclecote, Lawn, Poole Sapphires and Team Jets. The finals were played as a round robin with all teams playing against each other once.
Like the U16s Finals, this competition was fiercely contested and everyone was delighted but not surprised by the extremely high standard of play.
At close of play, having won all 7 of their matches, Poole Sapphires were the winners. Having lost just the one match to Poole, Team Jets from Jersey were the runners up this year and will join Poole Sapphires at the National Finals in May at the University of Bath.
There was an extremely high standard of umpiring, and this year they introduced a new award to acknowledge the fantastic work done by all of the regional umpires. The award ‘Umpire of the Day’ was won by Debbie Ashworth from Cornwall. On the day one of the UK’s best known and most popular sportswomen, Sharron Davies MBE, presented the awards.
