Serena Guthrie England Netball Captain was in Cornwall delivering workshops from Wednesday August 7th to Friday August 9th
Serena is from Jersey so made her way into National Squads by the SW Player Pathway. She has represented England’s National Squads since she was 18years old. She has played professional netball in New Zealand and Australia and last season returned to her routes to represent Team Bath Superleague Squad.
She delivered her first session at Saints Netball Cornwall on Wednesday evening, challenging players with invasion games and problem solving. It was also an opportunity for Bridget Wells to meet her hero. Bridget is recovering from autoimmune encephalitis and meeting Serena was a great incentive for her to keep working hard towards full recovery
Next up we’re two workshops, on Thursday August 8th at Truro School, the first for U11 and U12s. The second for U13 and U14s
Lots of ball handling skills and fun games and some match play
Next up we’re two similar workshops on the Friday at Callywith College Bodmin.
All workshops were really well attended so hopefully we will see Serena back in Cornwall again soon
